A Story to Remember
There is a narrative in the Biblical text that I have been pondering. It is the narrative of the woman who anoints Jesus with an expensive perfume. Part of what holds my attention is the response of Christ. Jesus says: "And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her." (Mar 14:9 ESV) Or when people would gather around to tell about the time of Christ amidst the stories of miracles, meals, speeches and prayers would be a story of a simple but costly act of love. A needed reminder for me in the chasing after adventure and meaning that what really matters are not heroics but simple, bold, costly acts of love from the heart.
